The Sacred India Tour will include all our favorite South India experiences from the seacoast near Chennai to the backwaters of Cochin. It will be history, art, countryside landscapes, temples, ashrams and historic sites all combined together into one compact program.
In addition there will be daily Yoga sessions, meditations and satsangs. There is nothing like offering the Yoga teachings in the ambience of India where we can see new dimensions of the teachings in action day after day.
The Sacred India Tour is organized around the ashrams and temples which were important in the sadhu years of Sri Swami Satchidanandaji. This includes Perur Temple, Palani Hill, Ramanashram, Aurobindo Ashram, and the holy temples in Madurai and Tanjavore. We will also visit Swamiji’s birthplace and the thriving school and IYI he founded in Coimbatore. These locations provide the framework for a tour in which we strive to bring our travelers into contact with the throb of India and her spiritual wealth. We visit the tombs and study the lives of the saints who have left their bodies, and have satsangs with a few saints still living. We meditate and do hatha together daily. The tour also includes cultural events, a folk festival, historic sites, and spectacular scenery.
Our accommodations are to a Western standard so we rest well at night, and we have selected a comfortable AC van for the road trips. This will be the eighth tour we have led in South India.
Cost for the Sacred India Tour is $1850 for double occupancy or $2,128 single occupancy. This includes lodging, travel by private AC bus, entry tickets for excursions, and most meals. It does not include international airfare, charges for passport, visas, inoculations, etc. |

"India, the one land that all men desire to see, and having seen once by even a glimpse, would not give that glimpse for the shows of all the rest of the globe combined." - Mark Twain |
"India is the Mother, the Goddess. The universe has a cosmic body. Every atom has a body. So does this land. The Himalayan area is the face of Mother India, which is why it is so beautiful. The Ganges is her main artery, and Varanasi is the heart. Her feet are in the temple area at the very South. The whole country is looked on as the Goddess." - Sri Swami Satchidananda |
"If there is one place on the face of this earth where all the dreams of living men have found a home from the very earliest days when man began the dream of existence, it is India." - Romain Rolland |
